Ran some Dungeon Girls
Dungeon Girls is a fun one. I ran it for my niece, her boyfriend, a brother-in-law, and my 9-year-old. As written, DG is a bit harsh for some of that crowd, but fortunately the discord had some modifications to taking massive damage I was using. I had some notes from the discord that I made, helped me run this.
Generated a dungeon using the rules in Songbirds. Rolled a place full of traps, I came up with some enemies, decided that there was a big bad keeping the dungeon growing like a tumor in some place the Empire didn't want. Inspired by Coffinkeep, I had the big bad's approach change the environment around the PCs - this Saint of Traps presence turned spider-webs into monofilament cutting danger, though I didn't turn safe areas into sudden surreal traps - I should've! Also should have (but I didn't think of this) started reseting sprung traps as the Saint approached, which is a big source of 'empty' rooms in Songbirds (and quite clever). For encounters, I figured there were trap cultists, a trap golem, zombies, a lost dungeon girl, and the Saint of Traps, whose mind made this dungeon.
The first encounter was a Trap Golem, its chest a bear-trap, large and headless body looming. Our group's Volfe Knight fought it but was getting smacked about, but our Psychonaut managed to telepathically calm the golem, who, after another reaction roll, admitted that it didn't enjoy its work, but was fine with them as long as they weren't more trap worshippers.
The golem let them pass, and helped them reach a hatch in the ceiling. The hatch led to a tunnel, which wound around to another hatch, this time in the floor of a room, in the center of a huge electrical trap, 40 feet of metal plate and electric humming. Because they approached in this secret-ish way, they managed to deactivate it entirely via a nearby tunnel-based control panel.
They found a safe room, incense still burning, and a diary of a Dungeon Girl who'd disappeared in this place. A room later, found two other Dungeon Girls who'd been turned to stone. They figured they could break off some of the statue stone and circle round, chanting their traditional respawning cant: 'Hey girl, wake up. Wake up girl.' Very deadpan, very effective. The two formerly-stone dungeon girls thanked them, gave them some vague hints, pointed them in the direction of the flesh-to-stone gas-trap that got them, and dipped.
Spider webs began turning to steel. The players knew something bad approached. They ran to the gas-trap room, finding a steel armature with a gas-thrower at its end, above a chest. The Volfe Knight and the Chef of the group prepared to fight (and/or throw gasoline and fire on the Saint of Traps), while our Psychonaut and our Tamer sought to bait the Saint of Traps into the gas-trap and use his own trap against him.
The Trap Saint came into view, chest a bear-trap with his heart exposed where the pressure plate would be. Pallid, open robes, barefoot, sleepy. He spoke to them briefly. The party revealed they were there to capture or kill the Trap Saint, who told them the Empire would throw them away the way it had tossed him aside, when his usefulness ended. They fought, the front-liners barely avoiding sudden 3 meter trap spikes. The Psychonaut and Tamer ran, the Chef managed to kite the Saint towards the old gas-trap and hit it with their cleaver, breaking it open, spilling the trap's final gasp of gas. The Chef and Knight managed to barely escape it, but the Saint of Traps was caught and turned to stone. Stone which totally couldn't grow roots and dream another dungeon...
The party broke off some of the statue as proof of their deed, took some of the stoney spikes that had emerged from the Saint's body, and wandered a bit, looking for the last dungeon girl lost in the place. They found a room with a ghost cursing furiously, managed to talk her down, and found her femur in the debris.
"Wake up girl. Hey girl, wake up. Wake up girl."
The last lost dungeon girl respawned, bones covering with meat, covered with skin, covered with clothes. She thanked the party profusely for finding her, and promised to take them all out for a meal at a diner she knew well.
And that was it! Twas a fun time.
